New features...  1. The first thing introduced to us is Assistant Manager feedback, a clever new feature that will see the assistant manager give you information during a game. He will give you tips on how the opposition are exploiting your tactics, how you can exploit theirs and information on player motivation. It sounds like it could be a big help to any new players to the game, but will also help out the older users of the game and another step towards FM becoming more and more like real life football management.
2. Media interaction is the next area that we are told about. New and improved news items, transfer rumours page (much like the BBC Rumours Column) and the biggest change from the media perspective is the introduction of Press Conferences. Before and after matches you will attend a press conference where they will throw their questions at you and you give them your answers, which Miles warns could come back to haunt you as “the Journo’s do remember what you said!”.
3. Training and tactics next and an improvement to the player preferred moves. Managers will now have the ability to ask players to go and learn a new special move such as step-overs or become a free-kick master. “Obviously if you have a giant centre back and you’re asking him to learn step-overs it might not work”, jokes Miles.
4. Next is the thing that the female Football Manager players have been wanting for years, the ability to actually play as a female manager! Something which I’m sure the female population will be ecstatic about.
5. Improvements to features that were in 2008 are the next we’re told about. Confidence (something which was definately in need of improving from ’08), the game will now have over 350,000 players and staff in the database, finances completely updated, adjustments of the user interface (including widescreen support) and a complete revamp of the transfer system. All very positive features that can only benefit from improvement, especially the confidence system which was complained about my almost everybody.
6. Just one last thing left, and as always the best is saved for last. The match-screen. Yes, Football Manager 2009 for the first time in the series will be going 3D. Don’t get your knickers in a twist if you aren’t keen on the idea of a three dimensional match screen, you can still play with the 2D screen. Miles tells us that they have been working on this for around three years and that they have been able to use motion capture technology. All of this makes the 3D match engine sound very, very exciting, especially seeing as the match engine has went through testing for FM Live so we should be presented with a pretty much perfect match engine, which of course makes Football Manager 2009 itself seem very promising.sortitoutsi. net3D!?
