Sekarang Park dibilang sepupu nya Park ;D

“I am very hounoured and I feel very happy to be at Arsenal,” he said. “They are a team that I dreamed about when I was young. I am very proud to be an Arsenal player.

“I just want to show how good I am and prove myself. It feels like a big step up but that doesn’t mean I won’t be able to perform.

“I will work very hard, I will train very hard and I will show that I am able to be part of this Arsenal team.

Turned out, it's true. gw barusan liat interviewnya di arsenal player. dia ditanya, "Of course, you're not the first Korean player in English league. Your cousin, Park Ji Sung is played for Manchester United...". Ju gak denied apa apa. berarti beneran.

also, interviewnya pake dubbing rupanya. gw pikir udah pake bahasa inggris si Ju, hehe..

Park Chu-young resembles a Wenger player but Arsenal fans may disagree

Quote
"I had to choose between Lille and Arsenal," said Park Chu-young as he arrived home in South Korea on Monday for national team duty. "I wanted to choose without regret." Whether Arsène Wenger will say the same after signing the 26-year-old striker remains to be seen.

The fee is low, around £3m but is less a reflection of ability than a two-year military tour of duty that starts in 2013, though he may be able to join a police team instead in 2014. That deadline, a 2012 Olympic medal grants exemption, was why the player was increasingly desperate to leave Monaco after three years and why, with a deal almost done on Saturday, he dropped everything at Lille to head to London.

Park has been a huge star in his homeland since becoming Asian Young Player of 2004 and impressing for FC Seoul from 2005. Later, he suffered from injuries, loss of form and confidence – for a while one-on-ones became painful to watch. It was only after a move to Monaco in 2008 that he really started to develop into one of Asia's best strikers.

That accolade may not impress Arsenal fans and even his Asian fans don't expect Park to become an automatic starter anytime soon. The feeling was that after impressing on the Mediterranean, Park had earned the chance to play on a bigger stage and French champions Lille sounded about right. Arsenal interest was a surprise but every time the Daegu-born striker has had the chance to make the step to the next level, he has done so.

Twelve goals out of a total of 38 in Monaco's relegation season is a good return but although Park's finishing has improved, it remains erratic. Comparisons to Nikolas Bendtner end there however. The hard-working Korean offers much more technically than the Dane. At times, Monaco lamented the lack of a killer instinct – perhaps Lille would disagree – but will miss his vision, touch and awareness around the penalty area.

With an Arsenal squad stretched, Park brings versatility – he can play on the left or right but prefers the middle – and pace. A six-footer, he will adapt to the rigours of English football more quickly than Park Ji-sung or Lee Chung-yong. The South Korean captain takes a better free-kick than Theo Walcott as demonstrated against Nigeria at the 2010 World Cup. A good header of the ball with a good head on his shoulders (an IQ of 150) he has the look of a Wenger player, though again, that may not be what Arsenal fans currently want to hear.

With a pre-season tour of Asia and the addition of Ryo Miyaichi from Japan, the London club are suddenly active in the far eastern market. Despite the hype, most European teams receive little commercial boost from Asian players. This could be different. Arsenal can make Miyaichi a star at home but Park already is one.

It can't be too long before Arsenal credit cards (it is rarely about shirts) are a new must-have item in Seoul. Park now has to show he can earn similar status in London.

Don’t Blame Park Chu-Young

Quote
Such was the reaction to news that Park Chu-Young would be moving to Arsenal, that you could hardly have blamed the South Korean international if he had called the whole thing off and took up an alternative offer from French Champions Lille.

Phone-ins and message boards have been littered with contributions from people bemoaning, what is percieved to be, a perfect example of where Arsene Wenger’s going wrong in his attempts to take Arsenal forward.

The most polite comments say Park Chu-Young “doesn’t excite” as a signing for Arsenal – the more derogatory comments have used his name to poke fun at Arsenal’s transfer policy…”too young” etc.

The reality is that Park Chu-Young isn’t ‘too young’, at 26 he should be in his prime, he’s the Captain of his national side, has played at two World Cup Finals, and quite frankly, deserves a bit more respect.

Last season he was one of the shining lights in a struggling Monaco side that was relegated from Ligue 1 – enhancing his own reputaiton with a reasonable return of 12 goals in 33 games.

That goals return looks even better when you consider many French sides adopted a safety first, defensive approach last season – with Ligue 1 averaging fewer goals per-game (2.34) than any of Europe’s other top leagues.

For the record, the average goals per-game ratio in Serie A was 2.51, in La Liga it was 2.74, in the Premier League it was 2.80, in Germany’s Bundesliga it was 2.92 and the Eredivisie it was 3.23.

However, it’s fair to say that whatever statistics you look at, it certainly can’t be claimed that Park Chu-Young is a ‘marquee signing’ – although that’s not his fault and it doesn’t mean he can’t be a good addition to the Gunners squad, without necessarily being a regular starter.

I’m sure there were similar raised eye-brows and mutterings of “who?” when Manchester United signed Park Ji-Sung from PSV Eindhoven for around £4m in July 2005 – he’s since won nine major trophies.

Lee Chung-Yong might not have won any silverware at Bolton Wanderers, but he’s another South Korean international who’s really impressed in the Premier League, despite being unknown to many in England before his transfer from FC Seoul for £2.2m in 2009.

Now, I totally understand that all this will be of little comfort to frustrated Arsenal fans, who want to see their club spend big on several key signings – it was necessary before the losses of Fabregas and Nasri and has become absolutely imperative now, if Arsenal are to challenge for trophies and remain in the top four this season.

The early season form of Manchester United and Manchester City in particular, has shown the bar has been raised even further in the Premier League, and Arsenal are in danger of being left behind if they don’t act now.

You can only imagine the positive influence three or four top quality players could have, on what’s an already talented squad – the sprinkling of real class that could transform them from nearly-men into winners.

I’m talking about players like Emmanuel Petit, who’d captained Monaco to the French League title before signing for Arsenal in 1997, or Marc Overmars – already a Champions League winner when he arrived from Ajax – Sol Campbell’s another example – an established England international, with eight seasons of Premier League experience, when he moved across North London in 2001.

After receiving in the region of £55m from Barcelona and Manchester City recently, Wenger surely has the disposable cash to sign several players of that calibre, whilst still having the luxury of taking educated guesses on players like Park Chu-Young.

It doesn’t have to be one approach or the other, there’s no reason why they can’t co-exist – and Sunday’s 8-2 mauling at the hands of Manchester United will surely have confirmed that to Wenger.

Big money, high profile signings like Rooney, Young and Nani, combining to devastating effect with a mixture of youth graduates and players who weren’t so well known when they arrived at Old Trafford, such as Evans, Cleverley, Hernandez, Park Ji-Sung and Welbeck.

That said, I’m sure even Sir Alex Ferguson has looked on with admiration over the years at Arsene Wenger’s amazing ability to buy players relatively cheaply, improve them greatly and then sell them on for big profits.

He’s done it time and time again, from Anelka and Overmars to Fabregas and Clichy.

Those four players alone fetched in the region of £88m for Arsenal, and all, with the exception of Overmars, were about as well known to many in England as Park Chu-Young when they first arrived at Arsenal.

It would therefore be utter lunacy to try and dissuade Wenger from trying to unearth further rough diamonds – what’s critical now, more than ever before in his time at Arsenal, is that Wenger merges that policy with a willingness to spend big on the select few that can make the difference between success and failure.

Whether that happens or not, I believe Park Chu-Young is a victim of circumstance, and the reaction to his transfer would have been totally different had it happened six years ago, when Arsenal were still winning silverware and the patience of supporters hadn’t been so severely tested.
"My beliefs have always been the same. I am happy that the people who love the club are happier, but I've always had faith in what I have been doing."

Chu Young Park on Arsenal, the David Beckham comparison and Arsene Wenger

I’m very honoured and I feel very happy to be at Arsenal. They are a team that I dreamed about when I was young, I always liked Arsenal and I cannot believe that I am here.

When contact was made and I was told of their interest, I could not believe it, I was really happy. [How did I find out?] Well, I got a phone call from my club and they told me that Arsenal were interested in signing me but at first I didn’t believe it and I needed to check that it really was Arsenal. I want to thank everyone who made this move possible for me.

A lot has happened in two days and it feels like a big, big step up but that doesn’t mean I won’t be able to perform.

I will work very hard, I will train very hard and I will show that I am able to be part of this Arsenal team. I will work hard to prove myself and build a reputation with the Arsenal fans.

When I first went to Monaco, I got better and better. I scored more goals the longer I was there. At the moment I am prepared to show even more at Arsenal.

I need to get to the point where I can be at my best and that will require concentration and hard work. I will be strong and hopefully I will show my best form.

[Arsene Wenger?] He is an Arsenal legend. From the moment I liked Arsenal he was the head coach and I have always admired him. He has been here for many, many years and he is one of the best in the world and I am very happy to get the chance to work with him.

[His reputation?] I’ve always heard that Mr. Wenger is very professional and that he thinks about football all the time. He has a reputation for being a good man and treating all his players with respect.

I hope he will be nice to me too. His reputation at Monaco is very good, because he was a manager there of course, too.

[The comparison with David Beckham?] I think that’s not possible, when I was played in Seoul I scored many goals with free-kicks but at Monaco I didn’t score one goal with free-kicks, so I don’t think the comparison is accurate.
