Arteta joins Arsenal on a four-year deal

Arsenal has confirmed that they have agreed to sign Spanish midfielder Mikel Arteta from Everton for an undisclosed fee.

The 29-year-old arrives at Emirates Stadium on a four-year deal with a wealth of Barclays Premier League experience, having been with the Merseyside outfit since 2005. After starting his career as a trainee with FC Barcelona, Arteta was loaned to Paris Saint-Germain before making his name in the Scottish Premier League with Rangers, where he was a member of the domestic treble winning side of 2002-3.

A year long spell in Spain with Real Sociedad followed before he teamed up with David Moyes’ side, initially on loan, in 2004-5. The Spaniard went on to score 28 goals in 174 Premier League appearances for the Toffees.

Arteta has represented Spain at Under-21 level, but has not played for the senior national team.

The deal is subject to the completion of formal registration processes.

Everyone at Arsenal wishes Mikel every success at the Club.

Wow! A very big surprise!
Kemarin waktu dibilang gagal, jujur sih gw udah gak terlalu yakin sama yang satu ini. Tapi begitu bangun, ada namanya dia, wohoo!

Welcome to Arsenal, Arteta!

Why Mikel Arteta can take over from Fabregas
It was down to the wire last night (Wednesday) as the transfer window as about to close and then Arsenal announced that we have signed Mikel Arteta from Everton for thought to be £10million. This had to be the biggest signing on transfer deadline day and the biggest signing for Arsenal this summer.

We lost Fabregas and Nasri this summer but we have now bought in a player of the quality of Arteta. If Arteta was not in the generation of Xavi, Iniesta and Alonso, he would easily be a regular in the Spanigh national team. The beauty with signing Arteta is that we are getting a player with Premier league experience already so we do not have to wait for him to ‘get used to the English game’.

At 29-years-old he is also experienced and will certainly help the younger players around him at Arsenal. He is a top-class playmaker who can play well with both feet and is also a dead ball specialist. and with him linking up with Wilshere in the middle of the park, it is going to be something special.
Wilshere himself is please with the arrival of Arteta as he tweeted:
“Best news of the day! Brilliant signing! Welcome to Arteta! Great day all round for #AFC this is why #ILoveAFC. Come on you gooners!!!!”

Now Arteta may not be better than Fabregas but he is certainly a worthwhile replacement who will be able to get the job done for us. My only concern with Arteta is his injury record. He seems to get injured a lot but hopefully he can put all of that behind him and do a good job for Arsenal.

btw, gw baru tau arteta sampe potong gaji

“Arteta’s part in personally forcing through the move was underlined by his willingness to accept a drop in his wage from £75,000-a-week to £55,000-a-week.”

It appears that it was the lure of Champions League football was too much for Arteta and he agreed to take a £500,000 paycut to join the Gunners.

so, when we finish above City this season, we can safely say, "In your face, Nasri!"

A few facts about our new talisman

Quote

  • The 29-year-old made 53 key passes (i.e. passes which directly lead to goalscoring opportunities) for Everton in the league last season.
  • 24 of those (stats above) were from set pieces, which shows just how effective Arteta's free kicks and corners are.
  • The other 29 were from open play, and considering Arteta only played 29 league games in 2010/11, the Spaniard's ability to make clear goalscoring opportunities in every match he plays makes for very good reading.
  • He had one of the highest open play passing accuracy rates in the Premier League last season, completing 87 percent of his passes, more than any Arsenal player.
  • Overall he made 1,474 successful passes, again more than any Gunners star, barring Jack Wilshere, which shows his ability to start attacks and set up chances on goal.
  • He also made 171 crosses, with a crossing accuracy rate of 33 percent, a very impressive statistic considering it beats the likes of Nani, Ashley Young, Florent Malouda, Stewart Downing, etc, all players who made a similar amount of deliveries.
  • Last season Mikel Arteta created a goalscoring chance every 42 minutes for his teammates.
  • In 06/07 campaign, he made a whopping 12 assists from just 35 games, the third highest that season after Fabregas and Manchester United's Cristiano Ronaldo.
  • The Spaniard is surprisingly able to put in a good tackle, winning 65 tackles in the Premier League last season at a rate of one tackle every 37 minutes on the pitch, with a tackle success rate of 71 percent.
  • He's also able to run with the ball well, successfully completing 25 dribbles last term at a rate of 0.86 per game
  • He only scored three goals last season, but he's netted 41 from 208 matches for Everton at a rate of a goal every five games and impressively scored six from just 13 appearances in 2009/10.

Kalau gak salah dia dipotong nya 10k per week deh, bukan 20k kayak info dr quotes itu. Makanya gaji dia berkurang 500k per season nya. Kalau dia ambil 20k pay cut, harusnya kan berkurang 1m per season kan? CMIIW. Well either way, itu kasih lihat seberapa penting nya Champions League buat team ini. Kalau aja waktu itu kita kalah sama Udinese, gak mungkin nih kita sign Arteta.
